The 8th International Teacher Education and Accreditation Congress (ITEAC 2026) was held on 16–17 October 2026 at Marmara University in Istanbul. During the congress, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülay Heppınar, Res. Asst. Aykut Özkan, and Res. Asst. Arif Bora Kılıç from the Department of German Language Teaching, Atatürk Faculty of Education, Marmara University, presented their paper entitled “Evaluation of the German Language Teaching Undergraduate Program Based on Graduates’ Perspectives.”
The study aimed to examine graduates' self-assessments of their subject knowledge and professional competencies, as well as the extent to which they had achieved the program learning outcomes. In this context, particular attention was given to evaluating the knowledge and skills acquired during undergraduate education and their applicability in professional practice.
The research addressed graduates' competency levels across six dimensions based on the Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF-HE): theoretical and factual knowledge, cognitive and practical skills, independent work and responsibility, learning and development, communication and social competence, and professional and field-specific competence. The study also aimed to investigate the relationship between graduates' subject knowledge and scientific competencies and their achievement of the program learning outcomes.
The study is expected to reveal a positive relationship between graduates' subject knowledge and scientific competencies and their achievement of the program learning outcomes. However, certain learning outcomes may require further improvement. The findings are expected to contribute to identifying the program's strengths and areas for development and to supporting continuous improvement efforts within the framework of quality assurance.
The presentation provided an opportunity to share the Department's academic work in teacher education, program evaluation, and quality assurance in higher education with participants at the congress.
